In 1965 Art went to Gillette, WY, to work with his uncle.  While in Gillette, he worked for Dowell and Lumont Drilling.  While working for Lumont Drilling in Gillette, he lost 2 fingers.  Afterwards, Art trained to be a machinist at L&H Machine. Art moved to Casper, WY, in 1972 to work for WOTCO as a machinist. He then went to work for NL Acme as a machinist in 1975. Also, in 1975, Art started Howards Inspection Service.

Art joined the Wildcatters Board of Directors as treasurer in 1991.  While Chairman of the Wildcatters in 1995, Art asked Ace Parker and Percy Anderson if they would be interested in starting a Senior Wildcatter’s. They were more than willing to help. The first year there were 6 players. Through the years we have steadily increased the number of players; we have had the maximum number of 144 players since 2019. With the help of great sponsors, and players, local, out of town, and out of state, and with all the Board of Directors past and present we have a great tournament.
